charles j. badger recommissioned 10 september 1951, , in february 1952 arrived @ new home port, newport, r.i. base, operated along east coast , in caribbean, maintaining , providing services training of other types. first atlantic crossing came 9 june 23 july 1953, when sailed visit portsmouth, england, in company 2 aircraft carriers , destroyer. on 7 december, cleared newport on first leg of round world cruise, found operating 2 months on patrol off korean coast , in taiwan straits. escorted transports bringing prisoners of war had elected join chinese nationalists inchon taiwan, , took part in training operations off japan until 22 may 1954, when continued on around world. visits @ hong kong, singapore, colombo, aden, port said, naples, villefranche-sur-mer, , lisbon marked progress suez canal , through mediterranean newport, arrived 17 july.
badger completed 2 tours of duty 6th fleet in mediterranean in 1956 , in late 1956-early 1957, during second of patrolled watchfully during suez crisis. badger decommissioned , placed in reserve @ boston, mass. 20 december 1957.
the ship stricken naval vessel register 1 february 1974. sold 10 may 1974 chile , cannibalized spare parts other ships.
