the cathedral s pipe organ built in 1890 builder unknown, , rebuilt tellers-kent organ company in 1937. has 46 ranks, 3 manuals. organ composed of number of chambers in choir loft, plus chamber along southern wall near front of church. there set of chimes attached organ.


like number of other organs, pipe work largely left out in open rather being contained case. pipe work artistically arranged make stunning visual display.


the organ console situated in choir area on main level near front of church. can moved various functions, such mass , recitals. in 1991, organ refurbished after several years of fundraising. organ 1 of larger ones in dubuque, , considered 1 of finest in city.
