early 2009, around age ten, signed recording contract emi music spain, releasing in december of same year self-titled debut album, abraham mateo. album, recorded in madrid, includes original ballads written producer jacobo calderon, covers of songs raphael, alejandro sanz, laura pausini, , luis fonsi, duet french singer caroline costa.


in 2009 debuted actor in tv miniseries días sin luz, recounts search missing girl mari luz cortes. mateo played younger brother of mari luz in miniseries broadcast antena 3 in spain. year later, portrayed falín, young raphael, in antena 3 miniseries based on life of legendary spanish singer.


after release of debut album, continued covering songs in spanish, italian, , english (including duet sabrina carpenter) , uploading videos youtoube. in november 2011, mateo released desde que te fuiste , latin dance song written himself, on itunes.
