jordan excelled in track, rugby , football. jordan star athlete @ pasadena high school in pasadena, california, , graduated university of southern california (usc), captain of trojans national collegiate athletic association (ncaa) championship track team in 1939. helped trojans win 2 national collegiate team titles, in 1938 , 1939, , member of world-record-setting 440-yard relay team, in time of 40.5 seconds. in 1939, jordan played on trojan football team beat duke university, 7-3, in rose bowl. won amateur athletic union (aau) 100 meters title in 1941.
