until 2009, montana has played 3 seasons in top flight, between 1994 , 1997. montana joined division in 1994, , same year club finished thirteenth out of sixteen clubs in first season. same season, montana reached semi-final of bulgarian cup. montana s best season in pfg in 1995-96 season - 9th place. in campaign, team led anatoli tonov, todor pramatarov, rumen panayotov , angel chervenkov, club reached final of folded bulgarian league cup tournament, knocked out neftochimic burgas. in 1996-97 season, montana finished in 15th place , relegated second division. part of squad talented seventeen-year-old stiliyan petrov, sold same year cska sofia. otherwise according fans, boyan gergov montana s prominent figure, being club s top goalscorer total of 157 goals in 364 matches. following 1997-1998 season, after financial collapse, montana relegated bulgarian v afg. however, after 7-year stay in v afg, club finished in 2nd position in north-west v afg, , montana returned in west b pfg upcoming 2004-05 season.
