the first puerto rican delegate in miss international carmen sara látimer, sent in 1960. since 1960, puerto rico has produced 2 winners (laurie simpson in 1987 , valerie hernandez in 2014), 1 3rd runner-up , ten semi-finalists. miss puerto rico pageant had miss international franchise 1960 1997, after two-year hiatus, new pageant created called miss puerto rico turismo sent representatives until 2007 when new organization acquired franchise (creative options inc. – fernando oquendo vega).
