president woodrow wilson proclaimed site national monument on december 19, 1919, after donation of 9.5 acres (38,000 m2) of land on july 2, 1919 private landowner. additional 24 acres donated hallie ismay in late 1990s. 1 of many research national monuments designated during era preserve ruins, plants , animals in yucca house area. hallie ismay, benefactor of additional land in 1990s, unofficial steward of yucca house site 62 years.
as national park service historic area, park administratively listed on national register of historic places on october 15, 1966. site managed mesa verde national park.
currently, there no true interpretive features, facilities or fees @ yucca house. see visitor guide directions remote location. parking space limited , roads may difficult following rains or snowmelt.
