st mary s church, acton, near nantwich, cheshire. upper part of tower blown nave, march 1757. sandstone. church must have been extensively re-built , medieval entrance has been altered , embellished. remarkable ornamented west gable chancel. ornamentation tower below parapet, has ‘gun slits’ in crenulations (cf seigford). 4 crocketed corner pinnacles lower mid-ball pinnacles on tower. sundial surmounted baker’s typical ball pinnacle.
st chad s church, wybunbury, cheshire. tower leaning result of subsidence. baker appears have solved problem, nave , chancel had demolished in 1970.
