drafted in first round, 17th overall new york islanders in 1980 nhl entry draft, brent sutter had success in nhl, playing 1111 games , recording 829 points. won stanley cup twice islanders in 1982 , 1983 along brother duane. after finishing nhl career, bought whl s red deer rebels formerly served rebels head coach , general manager. brent led rebels memorial cup in 2001. became first coach lead canada consecutive gold medals @ world junior ice hockey championships, did in 2005 , 2006. in 2007, brent left posts rebels become head coach of new jersey devils. on june 23, 2009, hired head coach of calgary flames. on april 12, 2012, , flames came agreement him leave club. son brandon first round draft pick of carolina hurricanes in 2007. in 2012 brent returned red deer rebels general manager , head coach red deer rebels.
