when track saw first real competition (and test competition ahead of 1984 olympic winter games), 1,246 heats of 2 , 4 man bobs completed 4 overturns , 1 serious injury reported. fil (international luge federation) , fibt (international federation of bobsleigh , tobogganing) experts heralded track safe, quick, , technically interesting , requires extreme concentration , technical knowledge.
the top section, known course 1 begins @ upper start house , runs 350 meters, splitting main track @ turn 3. slightest grade, suitable riders.
the center section, known course 2 begins @ second start house , runs 374 meters splitting main track @ turn 7, after complex , high-g double s turns (5,6, , 7). more intense , complex, still provides training , recreational experience of complex turning.
the bottom section, known course 3 begins below turn 7, , @ 576 meters longest , fastest segment of track containing of complex turns in sliding; omega, hairpin , labyrinth. course 3 ends @ bottom of track.
