the sarajevo olympic bobsleigh , luge track separated training , recreation sections.



the german democratic republic four-man bobsled number 2 sled races through final curve 13 during 1983 european bobsleigh championships @ mt. trebevic bobsleigh & luge track.


in preparation 1984 winter olympic games, mt. trebević selected site new sliding complex. track complex designed architect boreisa bouchard, vision both reduced footprint of facility, , flexible , adaptable use piece of olympic legacy infrastructure. track can split 3 segments recreational , training purposes.


when track saw first real competition (and test competition ahead of 1984 olympic winter games), 1,246 heats of 2 , 4 man bobs completed 4 overturns , 1 serious injury reported. fil (international luge federation) , fibt (international federation of bobsleigh , tobogganing) experts heralded track safe, quick, , technically interesting , requires extreme concentration , technical knowledge.


the top section, known course 1 begins @ upper start house , runs 350 meters, splitting main track @ turn 3. slightest grade, suitable riders.


the center section, known course 2 begins @ second start house , runs 374 meters splitting main track @ turn 7, after complex , high-g double s turns (5,6, , 7). more intense , complex, still provides training , recreational experience of complex turning.


the bottom section, known course 3 begins below turn 7, , @ 576 meters longest , fastest segment of track containing of complex turns in sliding; omega, hairpin , labyrinth. course 3 ends @ bottom of track.
