Bahlul Lodi Lodi dynasty
bahlul khan lodi (r. 1451–1489) nephew , son-in-law of malik sultan shah lodi, governor of sirhind in (punjab), india , succeeded him governor of sirhind during reign of sayyid dynasty ruler muhammad shah. muhammad shah raised him status of emir. powerful of punjab chiefs , vigorous leader, holding loose confederacy of afghan , turkish chiefs strong personality. reduced turbulent chiefs of provinces submission , infused vigour government. after last sayyid ruler of delhi, ala-ud-din aalm shah voluntarily abdicated in favour of him, bahlul khan lodi ascended throne of delhi sultanate on 19 april 1451. important event of reign conquest of jaunpur. bahlul spent of time in fighting against sharqi dynasty , annexed it. placed eldest surviving son barbak on throne of jaunpur in 1486.
