in 1980s, tyll hosted conservative talk radio program on wpbr in palm beach, florida. weeknight show first brought tyll acclaim , national attention when became involved in resolution of february 1984 hostage situation.

on march 2, 1987, tyll began short, highly rated run @ wgst in atlanta, georgia. tyll drew press attention , controversy when announced plan give away condoms in woodruff park during broadcast. after initial resistance, city officials permitted giveaway long part of educational program on aids prevention. show sparked considerable publicity , controversy leading suspension in july 1987 after insulting influential georgia politicians. after series of protests , counter-protests, reinstated fired station in november 1987 after violating fcc regulations placing fulton county assistant district attorney live on air without knowledge or consent.

in january 1988, tyll hired wkls-fm ( 96 rock ) in atlanta. tyll continued generate controversy critics calling show tasteless , insulting leading station management promise tone down show in november 1989.

1990s

in january 1990, tyll began hosting nighttime talk show on wlup (1000 am) in chicago. moved overnights in may 1991 before being let go in october 1992. chicago sun-times noted tyll s eighth radio station in 5 years.

tyll spent february 1993 fill-in host on wjno in west palm beach, florida. in march 1993, tyll moved detroit host overnight show @ short lived 99-5 wow-fm. in may 1993, station flipped country music , tyll let go. in august 1993, tyll started weekly show airing sunday late-night on wysy (107.9 fm) in west suburban chicago. later moved on work @ radio station in new orleans.

tyll hosting mid-day call-in talk show @ wtks-fm in orlando, florida, when hired kabc in july 1997.

from september 1997 until february 1998, tyll hosted late-afternoon two-hour weekday show on kabc (790 am) in los angeles. once billed conservative talk host, in february 1998 profile reason magazine described tyll journeyman left-liberal host. had replaced conservative african-american talk host larry elder when elder s show cut 2 4 hours let go when station management restored elder s show original length.

in april 1998, tyll began hosting weeknight talk show 7 10 p.m. on klsx (97.1 fm) in los angeles. tyll shifted 10 p.m. 1 a.m overnight shift before leaving klsx on october 22, 1999 host syndicated talk show airing middays , originating studios of sister station wkrk-fm in detroit, michigan hosted current event call-in show played devil s advocate , started argument s caller s. ed once again fired.

on june 16, 1999, nbg radio network s ed tyll show began streaming live on internet via broadcast.com.

2000s

starting station s launch in september 2002, tyll hosted mid-day talk show noon 3 p.m. on wlie ( island talk 540 ) on long island, new york. in march 2003, tyll honored talkers magazine on annual heavy hundred list of important radio talk show hosts in america. indeed, tyll popular enough survive august 2003 cutback in local programming , 1 of 2 local shows not replaced syndicated programming. show moved afternoon-drive 3 7 p.m. during shakeup. of 2007, wlie spanish language station carrying none of original island talk 540 programming.

in october 2010, ed tyll once again in orlando radio market on talker weus 810 (the big 810 am). ed held down noon - 3pm slot 8 months, , moved 9a-noon slot when station dropped conservative talk host laura ingraham , added alex jones noon-3p time slot. ed left big 810 after 14 months, citing desire move career in direction.

in 2013, tyll sponsored anarchist playwright brenton lengel s show insurrection brenton lengel on kkrp1610 , star com radio network.
