sikandar lodi (r. 1489–1517) (born nizam khan), second son of bahlul, succeeded him after death on 17 july 1489 , took title sikandar shah. nominated father succeed him , crowned sultan on 15 july 1489. founded agra in 1504 , built mosques. shifted capital delhi agra. abolished corn duties , patronized trade , commerce. poet of repute, composing under pen-name of gulruk. patron of learning , ordered sanskrit work in medicine translated persian. curbed individualistic tendencies of pashtun nobles , compelled them submit accounts state audit. was, thus, able infuse vigor , discipline in administration. greatest achievement conquest , annexation of bihar.
