at beginning of first world war, cross-border traffic between burlo , winterswijk stopped, restored in late 1920s. @ beginning of second world war, passenger services abandoned, while last freight train ran on 30 september 1979. dutch part of track declared nature reserve, making reopening difficult.


passenger services abandoned between borken , burlo on 29 september 1961, while freight traffic continued until 30 september 1994. section formally closed on 1 january 1996.
