upon splitting i-78, 22 becomes four-lane at-grade divided highway runs through rural areas development , crosses new jersey transit’s raritan valley line. enters lebanon, passing north of town center. upon leaving lebanon, route heads clinton township. in community of potterstown, 22 enters readington township , takes southeasterly turn away i-78. here, road passes southwest of merck headquarters building before reaching community of whitehouse station, has short concurrency cr 523. past whitehouse station, 22 continues through mix of residential , commercial areas. 22 continues branchburg township, somerset county, development near road increases remains rural. cr 614 parallels 22 north pass through community of north branch before 22 intersects cr 637 , crosses north branch raritan river bridgewater township. in bridgewater township, route comes interchange eastern terminus of cr 614 , western terminus of route 28. past interchange, 22 passes business parks , raritan valley country club, widening 6 lanes in process. afterwards, comes interchange 202 , 206. past interchange, 22 transitions rural more suburban setting , heads east along border of somerville south , bridgewater township north, passing near bridgewater commons shopping mall. median of route widens runs south of i-287, entering bridgewater township again comes interchange i-287 @ exits 14a , 14b.
