the u.s. army , air force use tactical tropospheric scatter systems developed raytheon long haul communications. systems come in 2 configurations, original heavy tropo , , newer light tropo configuration exist. systems provide 4 multiplexed group channels , trunk encryption, , 16 or 32 local analog phone extensions. u.s. marine corps uses same device, albeit older version.
