gameplay

excitebots features six-player online multiplayer. in screen-shot, track being raced on silver mexico , hummingbird bot selected.

excitebots controlled wii remote horizontally, optionally wii wheel. of games played on courses large in size many opportunities take meandering paths. 25 different courses offered modeled after real locations on earth. because of size of each course, races 2 laps long , offer opportunities gain massive altitude, perform various maneuvers, , obtain various items.

each race scored on grading system s d , d being lowest score , s being highest score. in order obtain higher score, players must perform various tricks, stunts, complete minigames, , finish race before other bots. each of these tricks yield stars, used determine how player did during race. more stars player has when crossing finish line, better score receive. examples of of methods obtain stars are: gaining extreme altitude jumping off inclined terrain, smashing other bots during high speed, altering terrain ahead , sending leading bots skyward, ramming bowling pins, getting various offensive items , using them strategically i.e. bombs, hammers, , swinging on bars including mandatory red bar in each course.

multiplayer

excitebots features six-player online multiplayer via nintendo wi-fi connection local, split-screen 2-player racing. online gameplay modes include six-player excite races poker races can played anonymously or friends using nintendo s friend code system. during online play, players able place bets on in-game tokens can exchanged unlockable items. unlike predecessor, excitebots not support ability play custom music sd card.

play modes

excitebots features many game modes can played:

excite race: game s main mode of gameplay. in mode, players race on many tracks available racing , attempt highest score possible.
super excite: more difficult version of excite race have higher star requirement pass each track. cpu bots more difficult , more intelligent during races. super excite features hidden course not featured in excite race.
mirror excite: tracks time mirrored , cpu robots tougher before. mode unlocked after gaining perfect score on super excite.
poker race: players collect poker cards placed on track set @ points, , try make best hand before exchanging cards hand while racing other bots.
minigames: excitebots has 10 minigames in players compete several challenges, such dart throwing, bowling, or gliding while trying gain stars achieve higher score. mode can played local multiplayer well.

players able play 5 other people online nintendo wfc. options exist after each race save replays , ghosts , send them other wii consoles including own , attach awards ghost challenges. discontinuation of nintendo wfc, playing online no longer possible.

environments

excitebots features variety of robust racing environments, including redesigned tracks excite truck. part, based on real life locations. environment not based on real location crystal nebula , fictional planet made entirely out of various crystals , regarded hardest track.

the tracks have unique features. example, in kilimanjaro, there dinosaur fossils come life, guatemala, moai statue heads can breathe fire @ times, , in tasmania, several rock monsters alter tracks or attack players. other locations featured include: fiji, canada, china, egypt, finland, scotland, , mexico. crystal nebula is, name states, purple nebula made of crystals.
