in cultural domain, each year, hundreds, if not thousands, of jews visit chiune sugihara memorial museum located in yaotsu, gifu prefecture, in central japan. chiune sugihara s grave in kamakura place jewish visitors pay respect. sugihara s actions of issuing valid transit visas thought have saved lives of around 6,000 jews, fled across russia vladivostok , japan escape concentration camps. in same prefecture, many jews visit takayama city.
