phases

gameplay of weiß schwarz broken several phases during players turn:


stand phase

all characters on active player s stage in [rest] returned [stand].


draw phase

the active player draws card top of deck. unlike card games, occurs on first turn of each player, if player going first.


clock phase

the active player may choose discard 1 card hand his/her clock area draw 2 additional cards his/her deck.


main phase

the phase play , move characters or event cards , activate start abilities/effects.


when play card, have match 3 conditions (level, cost, , color) in order play card.


climax phase

climax cards played during phase.


battle phase

the player declares attack of choice his/her characters 1 @ time damage opponent s life points (called clock in weiß schwarz) , characters (if present) @ same time.

during first turn of game, player goes first may declare attack 1 character.

only characters in [stand] position , in center stage can declare attacks.

characters declaring attack put [rest] position [stand] position.

the 3 different types of attack:



direct attack

this attack default attack when character attacking empty slot.

the attacking character gain additional soul damage soul damage total.



front attack

the player may choose attack when character attacking , there character opposing it. battle between characters occur , character lower power put [reverse]. characters put [reverse] sent waiting room during encore phase unless otherwise stated.



side attack

the player may choose attack when character attacking , there character opposing it. battle between characters not occur. attacking character suffer soul damage penalty equivalent level of opposing character.


trigger phase

upon declaring attack front attack, side attack, or direct attack, card flipped on deck trigger check trigger (effect varies upon trigger) , card goes stock.


counter phase

if declared front attack, opponent may play character/event counter card, if have one.


damage phase

your opponent takes damage equivalent soul output + soul trigger upon trigger step (if any) onto clock. 7 cards on clock raises level 1, , additional damage retained onto next level. however, should flip on climax card, damage sustained damage step canceled, , moved waiting room (discard pile) instead.


character battling phase

this phase occurs when front attack declared.

a power comparison between characters done , character lower power put [reverse].

if power of both battling characters same, both of them put [reverse].


encore phase

this phase occurs when main player has decided stop attacking.

all characters in [reverse] state sent waiting room.

both players allowed revive characters paying characters respective encore cost.

even when not stated, character cards comes built-in ability [auto] encore (3), means player may pay 3 cost his/her stock revive character has been put [reverse].

the encored characters put waiting room in [rest] position original position on center stage.


end phase

you pass on turn opponent.
