truck m-78 former truck route through city of lansing. started @ corner of capitol avenue , main street , ran along main street grand avenue. there, turned north on grand avenue kalamazoo street , turned east on kalamazoo on grand river. @ larch street, truck m-78 continued north rejoin mainline @ corner of larch , saginaw streets.


by middle of 1936, us 27/m-78 routing through lansing split two. mainline restricted cars , moved run along capitol avenue. former routing restricted trucks , designed truck route. in 1950, bridge main street on grand river completed , mainline us 27 rerouted use connect larch street. there north, us 27/m-78 followed larch street supplanting truck route, decommissioned @ time.

business m-78 (bus. m-78) business loop through city of lansing. ran interchange between us 27/m-78 , i-96 on southwest side of lansing along us 27 (lansing road) downtown. there, ran east on main street , north on larch street. @ saginaw street, bus. m-78 turned east reconnect m-78.


the business loop created in 1963 when m-78 rerouted along newly completed sections of i-96 , i-496 freeways in lansing area. designation decommissioned in 1970 when i-496 completed through downtown lansing.
