darryl sutter lowest draft pick of family, waiting until 11th round, 179th overall, before being selected chicago blackhawks in 1978 nhl entry draft. darryl s playing career cut short injuries in 1987 after turned coaching. darryl spent 11 seasons coaching blackhawks, san jose sharks , calgary flames – leading latter surprising run 7th game of stanley cup finals both coach , general manager in 2003–04. replaced terry murray los angeles kings head coach on december 17, 2011. led kings 2 stanley cup championships in 2012 , 2014. fired kings on april 10, 2017.
