the ankara attorney general stated investigating possibility of twin suicide bombings. observed anonymous twitter account had claimed explosion take place in ankara 1 day before attack happened.

the lack of immediate statement known non-state perpetrator taking responsibility attack resulted in speculation on possible perpetrators. nationalist movement party (mhp) leader devlet bahçeli stated attacks bore resemblance explosion in suruç in july, raising debate on whether islamic state of iraq , levant (isil) have been responsible. reported type of bomb used bore strong resemblance materials used in suruç bombing, signalling potential connection between 2 incidents.

the peoples democratic party (hdp) openly blamed turkish state , government conducting attack, accusing government of collaborating non-state actors , taking insufficient action tackle presence. hdp has claimed governing justice , development party (akp) guilty of being murderers blood on hands , of being number 1 threat turkey s peace , security. hdp s accusation met strong criticism akp government.

veysel eroğlu, minister of forest , water management, made heavily criticised statement in afyonkarahisar implying hdp had purposely organised attack against own supporters raise public sympathy party. although eroğlu did not name hdp or pkk specifically, referred diyarbakır hdp rally bombing in june being attempt raise support hdp can pass 10% election threshold .

initially government suggested perpetrators of following anti-government groups: islamic state/daesh (is), kurdistan workers party (pkk), revolutionary people s liberation party–front (dhkp-c), marxist–leninist communist party (mlkp)

a day after bombing, davutoğlu suggested investigations pointed involvement of is. however, opposition political parties did not accept attribution.

yunus emre alagöz, ethnic kurd adıyaman , younger brother of abdurrahman alagöz, perpetrator of suruç bombing, suspected government 1 of suicide bombers. on 14 october media reports alleged yunus, , second suspect, Ömer deniz dündar, both of whom believed have links isil, identified using dna scene of blast. on 19 october, 1 of 2 suicide bombers officially identified yunus emre alagöz.
