the boy referred in video capaldi devoted fan of bbc television series doctor who.


the family received video capaldi on 3 november 2014. after viewing video, thomas felt encouraged attend grandmother s funeral. in interview guardian, ross goodall explained capaldi s mention of sadness resonated child due experience of grief on grandmother s death. discussed manner in thomas perceived emotions strict dichotomy between positive , negative without middle ground. thomas interpreted video right feel happy while simultaneously acknowledging sad event had occurred. ross goodall told guardian before viewing video capaldi, son had not wanted attend funeral.
