whittingham died of heart disease @ mater misericordiae private hospital in june 1927. funeral held @ st john s cathedral , proceeded toowong cemetery. in will, contested wife, left £100,000 geelong grammar school, , various amounts many other charities. when cecile whittingham died in 1972, grammar school received $221,875.
