the task of navbaltap keep warsaw pact s united baltic sea fleets, consisting of soviet baltic fleet, polish navy , east german volksmarine bottled in baltic sea blocking danish straits , ensuring natos unchallenged control of north sea. fulfill mission navbaltap commanded entire german ships of danish navy based in denmark. ships based in greenland , faroe islands under command of supreme allied commander atlantic.

the flag officer denmark (fod) commanded entire danish home fleet. fleet s main tasks prevent warsaw pact naval forces passing through danish straits , prevent amphibious landings on danish coast. fulfill mission danish navy fielded large number of minelayers , fast attack crafts. first have been used mine sealanes , potential landings beaches, while latter have harassed enemy fleet continuous hit , run attacks. additionally danish navy fielded agm-84 harpoon anti-ship missiles mounted on scania trucks mobile coastal artillery.
