judging occurs on 2 days before parade. in first day s judging, float viewed @ rest , without animation, sound, or riders. float builder allowed explain float judges before judges begin examination. in second judging, float judged presented in parade, animation, riders, outwalkers, , effects. each judging session lasts 5 minutes.


floats judged in 14 categories, varying weights; important categories relating floral usage. winners announced @ 6 on parade day.
