the saints have developing rivalry tampa bay buccaneers, have been part of nfc south saints since 2002.

carolina defeated new orleans on road every year 2002 2008, streak of 7 seasons. notable games include carolina s 19–7 home victory in 1996 sparked saints head coach jim mora s infamous diddley poo rant , resignation team, carolina s 10–6 win in 2002 season finale @ superdome knock saints out of playoffs, , emotional 2005 season opener @ carolina saints won 23–20 in face of hurricane katrina , eventual 3–13 season. after bounty scandal broke, revealed saints had deliberately targeted panthers rookie quarterback cam newton.


in last game in 2014 nfl season, fight between players broke out in end zone , spilled out tunnel entrance after cam newton touchdown, panther s tight end brandon williams getting ejected , both teams receiving offsetting penalties. panthers won contest 41–10, turnovers saints being factor in blowout.
