immortal s history began in 1989 death metal band amputation. @ various times throughout immortal s existence, abbath lead vocalist, bassist, guitarist, keyboardist, drummer, , lyricist, due inconsistent line-ups able put together. longtime, however, abbath served band vocalist, bassist , (studio) drummer while demonaz played lead guitar. not until horgh arrived immortal able secure steady line-up, problems continued. after release of blizzard beasts in 1997, demonaz diagnosed acute tendinitis, , consequently forced quit guitarist, remained lyricist , band manager. released @ heart of winter in 1999, time abbath handling guitar , bass, horgh still on drums. album marks large shift in sound , style music of immortal. in 2000 released damned in black, iscariah on bass. sons of northern darkness released in 2002, same lineup.


soon after release of sons of northern darkness, immortal ceased exist. break-up not caused tensions or problems, rather mutual 1 between members, claimed personal reasons.


in june 2006, announced through german rock hard magazine abbath , horgh reunite immortal. began practicing old material. in regard when immortal start playing live again, abbath said:



they began tour again, playing shows @ wacken festival in germany, , touring first time in australia , new zealand in march 2008. newest immortal album shall fall released in september 2009 in europe release following month later.

in 2006, abbath started new band called . abbath frontman , guitarist of , joined former immortal drummer armagedda on drums, gorgoroth bassist king ov hell on bass, enslaved guitarist arve isdal on guitars, , former immortal guitarist demonaz writing lyrics. debut album called between 2 worlds released in 2006.

after abbath split immortal in 2015, formed band, abbath, taking advantage of popular name in black metal music industry. band released first album in 2016, , played live first time @ tuska open air 2015.


bömbers

bömbers motörhead tribute band formed in 1996. band consists of abbath on lead vocals , bass, tore (ex-old funeral) on guitars, , pez (punishment park) on drums. during inferno metal festival 2007, abbath joined german thrash metal band sodom on stage , performed cover of motörhead s ace of spades .
