the reconstructed cahokia courthouse historic site of state of illinois , 1 of oldest in united states. since 1985, has been under jurisdiction of illinois historic preservation agency (ihpa). exhibits focus on issues dealt court around 1800, , history of structure s physical movements. visitor center features exhibits area s occupation french in 18th century, nearby nicholas jarrot mansion.


due state budget cuts, ihpa temporarily closed cahokia courthouse public december 2008 until april 2009.
