in april 2005, anthrax announced classic lineup of scott ian, charlie benante, dan spitz, joey belladonna , frank bello reform. @ shows on following tour, played among living in entirety. although lineup expected record new album after tour, in january 2007 ian said belladonna had not agreed reunion. after announcement uncertain if john bush return, since bush said unready re-commit anthrax.


in may 2007 ian said decision of singing anthrax made @ end of june, announcement delayed until december. in june, bush asked rock hard if bitter anthrax reunion. replied asked return band, declined. asked if wanted rejoin band when belladonna left, bush said didn t feel right that.


in december 2007 announced band s new vocalist dan nelson, formerly of devilsize, , rob caggiano return lead guitarist. in may 2008, anthrax played first show in 19 months @ double door in chicago. appearing before sold-out audience nelson, band played new material received (despite equipment problems).

in monthly food coma column posted on december 22, 2008, scott ian wrote had been in studio working on new anthrax album since november 4 ; drums, bass , rhythm had been recorded on 19 tracks, , addition of vocals had begun. should mixing @ end of january , after giving birth pissed off, loud, fast , heavy child. in may 2009 food coma column ian wrote album being mixed dave fortman, had worked evanescence , slipknot. in post on anthrax website, charlie benante said worship music out in may.


in 2009, anthrax began brief tour opening iron maiden in south america. in july, band manager izvor zivkovic confirmed departure of dan nelson due illness. nelson denied this, saying fired. subsequent performances canceled except august uk sonisphere festival, featured john bush on vocals. due fan response after performance, bring bush campaign began , endorsed ian.


in september 2009, announced bush again sing anthrax @ october loud park 09 festival in japan. afterwards, benante said bush had rejoined band. in february 2010, anthrax performed 5 shows part of soundwave in australia. after australian shows, bush said band intended re-record vocals of several tracks upcoming album.
