hortcentre

the two-storey hortcentre building serves visitor services centre. showcases gardening attractions, include green roof , lifestyle corner. building 1 of winners of 2008 international architecture award best new global design. 1 of 11 finalists urban land institute s (uli) awards excellence 2009.


green roof rooftop display of different types of green roof systems , plants suitable green roof planting. lifestyle corner visitors can see how flora-themed furnishings can complement homes, through showcasing of interior landscaping , lifestyle-gardening ideas.


greenhouse garden retail , workshop

located near visitor services centre, greenhouse consists of two-halves: garden retail , workshop area. garden retail managed plant story operates café on premises. meanwhile, workshop area used conduct workshops organised hortpark.


hands-on house

the hands-on house laboratory in classroom setting. consists of sheltered demonstration area in outdoor setting learning purposes. popular small groups of fitness , wellness enthusiasts.


hortlawn , event lawn

hortlawn located near hortcentre while event lawn can found near hands-on house. both lawns suitable hosting wide variety of outdoor activities such workshops, bazaars , functions.


butterfly garden

the butterfly garden opened in may 2009 national parks board in partnership national biodiversity centre allow visitors learn different stages of butterfly metamorphosis , serve experimental garden facilitate butterfly species recovery.


the 150-square-metre (1,600 sq ft) landscaped theme garden allows visitors encounter butterflies close , personal amongst visual feast of tropical plants , 20 species of native butterflies. research focus of butterfly species recovery programme find suitable nectar , host plants breeding variety of butterfly species, including locally extinct species such clipper (parthenos sylvia) , common sergeant (athyma perius).
