eligibility , entrants

the draft conducted under eligibility rules established in league s new 2011 collective bargaining agreement (cba) players union. cba ended 2011 lockout instituted no immediate changes draft, called committee of owners , players discuss future changes. of 2012, basic eligibility rules draft listed below.



all drafted players must @ least 19 years old during calendar year of draft. in terms of dates, players eligible 2013 draft must born on or before december 31, 1994.
any player not international player , defined in cba, must @ least 1 year removed graduation of high school class. cba defines international players players permanently resided outside u.s. 3 years prior draft, did not complete high school in u.s., , have never enrolled @ u.s. college or university.

early entrants

player not automatically eligible must declare eligibility draft notifying nba offices in writing no later 60 days before draft. 2013 draft, date fell on april 28. under ncaa rules, players have until april 16 withdraw draft , maintain college eligibility.


a player has hired agent forfeit remaining college eligibility, regardless of whether drafted. also, while cba allows player withdraw draft twice, ncaa mandates player has declared twice loses college eligibility.


college underclassmen

forty-five college players declared draft.



international players

fifteen players did not attend college in or canada between ages of 18 , 22 declared draft.



automatically eligible entrants

players not meet criteria international players automatically eligible if meet of following criteria:



they have completed 4 years of college eligibility.
if graduated high school in u.s., did not enroll in u.s. college or university, 4 years have passed since high school class graduated.
they have signed contract professional basketball team outside of nba, anywhere in world, , have played under contract.

players meet criteria international players automatically eligible if meet of following criteria:



they least 22 years old during calendar year of draft. in terms of dates, players born on or before december 31, 1991, automatically eligible 2013 draft.
they have signed contract professional basketball team outside of nba within united states, , have played under contract.

in addition every college players has completed college eligibility , every international players born on or before december 31, 1991, following player eligible selection in 2013 nba draft:
