in 2010, bridge celebrated 100th year party in park , unveiled permanent interactive led lighting system designed illuminate bridge 10–15 years. project funded via donation perry foundation. party in park featured parade containing people in period costume , classic cars , rides , events children. event culminated in display of specially commissioned film projected onto large screen next ps rangiriri, hamilton s historic paddle steamer in hamilton east. @ end of film, light show launched. colour kinetics interactive lighting feature spans entire structure , took 7 days of rigging , many months of planning install. bridge transformed specific colours @ times in order welcome visiting sports teams , celebrate national or local occasions.


bronze figures depicting local historical figures have been fixed railings since 2010 celebrate hamilton s years , connection river. these have faced controversy appear favour colonial histories detriment of rich indigenous cultural connection area, , subject of protest. time time balancing figures appear, highlighting these apparently missing elements.
