khaleqi born in 1938 in city of sanandaj, iran. started sing when in primary school @ age of eight. school music teacher gave him courses teach him read notes, , learn kurdish , persian modes (maqam). got more music lessons kurdish master musician hassan kamkar, father of renowned musicians , performers, kamkars. @ age of twelve, mazhar invited sing on town radio in sine. became well-known in regions covered radio sine signals. performed weekly 7 years. unfortunately performances live , there no recordings except few 1958. mazhar khaleqi left motherland city, sine, study in tehran university in summer of 1958. started new career radio tehran. rich kurdish folksong , background helped him become close friends iranian conductors, such hananeh, kasravi, tajvidi, yousefzamani, mirzadeh, naseri , others. has recorded more 150 pieces of kurdish folk melodies several types of orchestras, such tehran symphonic, cultural ministry , radio tehran orchestras. left iran after 1979 revolution when type of music not containing islamic verses declared sinful. before leaving iran recorded album of twelve songs people. mazhar continued music in exile , gave oppressed nation hope , happiness in hardest of times, when iraqi regime started commit genocide on kurds. recorded folk music of mazhar art link 3 generations. can find kurdish literature, folk customs, modern , classical music among recorded songs fifties.
