on 15 hectares of land @ international wind- , watermill museum in gifhorn there 14 rebuilt, original , replica mills across europe and, in 1 case, korea, set in landscapes typical of place of origin. in exhibition hall there numerous mill models. on site village square (the dorfplatz) lower saxon houses , russian stave church.

the windmill erected in 1897 mill builder, bergmann, salzhausen. built erdholländer single-storey base, west of eyendorf on high geest. in 1911 diesel engine installed boost power. mill fitted spring sails (jalousieklappenflügeln) , double fantail. in 1972 cap blown off hurricane. mill not rebuilt until 1981 society preservation of eyendorf windmill, founded in 1978, commercial milling continued until end of 1980s. in may 1998 pine sail broke during mill festival. sail replaced year longleaf pine sail had changed again in 2000 steel rods. mill used museum , brought operation specific occasions. on last saturday in may there annual mill festival.

the garlstorf windmill galerieholländer two-storey brick base , four-storey, narrow, slate-covered octagonal millhouse. erected in 1865 benecke brothers kirchgellersen. waisted shape of octagonal tower meant reduce wind eddies around sails , ensure better use of wind. mill operated herrmann benecke, underwent several changes of ownership. bought in 1920 mill owner, heinrich bornemann, luhmühlen, converted in 1924 motor mill , in 1934 made millhouse bigger. in 1964 mill operated 3 rollers , meal conveyor (schrotgang). thereafter changed hands several times , gradually closed down , converted residence. internal mill machinery removed. present owner has carried out extensive restoration , equipped mill sails , fantail again. current state of mill: cap covered wooden shingles , equipped additional gallery. 4 sails fixed. cast iron shaft head (wellenkopf), has been drilled through, indicates mill had spring sails. breastpiece (bruststück) , rods of present sails made of multilayered spars held steel clamps.
