suhr married christine caroline andrea falch on 30 march 1816 in church of holy ghost in copenhagen. daughter of grocer , bank commissioner andreas falck , wife charlotte sophie suhr (1756–1822). couple had no children.


suhr took active part in public life. member of council of 32 men 1822 1835. active in preparations first stændervalg , active in trykkefrihedsadressen in 1835. appointed etatsråd in 1847


he made summer residence available heiberg s @ bonderupgård. died on estate in 1860. buried in gentofte cemetery. left fortune foundation, den suhrske stiftelse. j. p. suhr & søn dissolved in 1897 after selling activities a/s det danske kulkompagni.
